SpaceFlik

SpaceFlik is a GameKit enabled multi-player game for iOS, no longer maintained.

After some brainstorming with my family, I wrote SpaceFlik, a multi-player iOS game for iPhone and iPad. I wrote the music, drew the graphics, created the sprites, and wrote the networking code. I haven't tried it for a while, and it has not been updated for recent iOS releases - it was fun, but didn't have much replay value.

The asteroid is actually a sketch of a potato. Originally the game was going to be called "Hot Potatoes" and was set in a kitchen (retro, mid-20th century). Each player would have a different implement - a rolling pin, a skillet, meat tenderizer, and a wooden spoon, and would use them to swat the potato around. The artwork became too complex. The game was re-set in space, and all that remained was the potato. ca

Here's what I wrote about it when it was released:

small asteroid

Your planet is being bombarded by asteroids (you know the drill). As an intrepid pilot in Space Patrol, your task is to direct the asteroids out of your segment. But there's one problem: no ammunition means you'll have to push the asteroids away with your space tug. Flick them away, and let someone else deal with them. Fortunately your tug has a strong hull, but there's a limit!

Score points for hitting the asteroid, and more points if your opponent explodes. Be warned though: if you tap the asteroid too many times, it will explode!
small explosion
You can play as a single player against Al, the practise drone. Or play together with a group of up to four people in a game. Each player needs a copy of SpaceFlik.

Tap "Start a Game" to start a new multi-player game using Game Center.

Tap "Single Player" to play against Al, the practice drone.

Score one point for tapping the asteroid, and 20 points if it explodes off screen. If you tap the asteroid too many times, it will explode!

Set the Game Level in "Options" to make SpaceFlik faster or slower.
